First Phase of Development :

Badlao Foundation started working since 1982. First phase started from 1982 to 1987. In that period of time Badlao working on health, education and self employment. The achievement of that era was:

Established informal education centre

Organized community health awareness camp and give training to dai

Formation of Mahila Sabha

Goat rearing and vegetable cultivation

Silk Production

Affiliation from Khadi Gramuddyog commission

Support 50 women to make them self employment through tussar Katai- Bunai.

To make every children educated angawadi centers was established at Gandhi Ashram, Kewarjali.

In the beginning Badlao was associated with TRYSEM programme. Later Badlao extended their association with OXFAM America and TEREDES HOME of GERMANY.

With the help of Industrial Dept. of Bihar Govt. 200 women were trained on Tussar and Malbari production. Through this initiative try to make women self employed.

Starting from 10 villages, Badlao move ahead other 50 villages in Jamtara Block.

Our extension centres were established in three different blocks of santhal pargana which includes three different districts. The name of the districts is following Godda, Dumka and Deoghar. The initiative focused mainly primitive tribes of Santhal (paharia).

The issues Badlao working on health, education, environment, sustainable agriculture and livelihood generation.

End of the decade Badlao successfully reached 100 villages.

In Mihijham and Jamtara two Khadi outlets was established

To strengthen Khadi Gramuddyog different programmes were arranged.

To bring cultural development, since 1995 to 1991 one mela was arranged at Kewarjali Ashram.

Second Phase of Development (1988-1992) :

In this phase Badlao decided to expand their work area. As Badlao working extensively with Santhal parganas in the last five years so they contacted with community people. Established several extension centres in different places in replication of Kewarjali Ashram. Achievements of Badlao foundation is as follows

Initially Badlao started from one district and later marked their glorious presence to three another districts.

This time concrete plan was framed and following issues were addressed: women’s group, informal and functional educational, human resource development, community health, hygiene and nutrition, enhancement of income, environment and advocacy.

For institutional development and self employment Badlao given training to 210 women’s from villages in collaboration with khadi grmauddyog ayog. In the area of khadi production Badlao set a strong reputation. In the year of 1990 record production and sale reached upto 40 to 50 lacs .

In the area of Madhupur and Karanpura environment or sustainable development programme was started which includes hari khad for farmers, composite, water conservation. That time focus given on tussar production.

Third Phase of Development (1992-96) :

In this time tussar weaving and spinning and production was considered as an important progranmme which spreading all over the state.

An expert team was formed in this phase which includes experts from tourism and natural resources, gender equality, community health and education.

An action plan was made for running the programmes systematically.

With the help of ICCO, was an organisation of Netherlands and SRC, an organisation from Switzerland, institutional development was happened. Both two organizations were associated with us for a long term which helps to grow our organsiation in a larger context.

Fourth phase of Development (1997-2001) :

In this stage women’s group turned in to SHG and makes their own strategy in the field area. During this time, to make women self employed and able build own organisation in which they completely empowered by their own.

In education field organisation was started building informal education centre. In the area where maximum population was illiterate and children education hardly matters our organization established centers in deoghar (karanapura), dumka (machkol), godda (sunderpahari) for giving them experimental and quality education.

Through awareness Badlao foundation was promote sustainable agriculture and tourism. Barrel land was converted in to cultivable land with plucking productive vegetables.

Fifth Phase of Development (2002-2007) :

In this phase of development organization make strategy on collective leadership. In between the organization community may also take part in decision making which given priority in that stage.

Core team of the organization established in this period of time. Core team was established for giving support to the secretary and president.

Community have that right to taken their own decision by themselves was a positive decision taken by organisation.

In this time, women empowerment effectively implemented in the organizational level which came to a positive achievement of our organisation.

In collaboration with NABARD 400 SHG was established which includes 6000 women and their family.

In Jamtara district organization was recognized as MNGO.

Important education institute was collaborating with Badlao foundation. Green wood public school was established in this time. This phase was important as organisation was associated with NIOS and IGNOU.

Sixth Phase of Development (2008-2011) :

Badlao mainly recognized three institutes at this time. Those are as follows: Badlao institute of training and management (BITM-Ranchi), Badlao Sikhshan Sansthan (Mihijham), Samarthan weakling development foundation (Mihijham).

Along with this to work in village level women formed Mutual Benefit Trust. Every block of Santhal Parganas have one MBT and every MBT had given different work.

Seventh Phase of Development (2012-16) :

In this period of time organization working on 18 new projects within 6 districts of santhal parganas.

For supervision and evaluation of projects one project manager was appointed. Organizational SWOT was discussed in this time.

One book published named "Badlao ka prayash" in hindi written by our founder member Bajrang Singh.

For strengthening organisation structure different strategy and policy were developed. This includes human resource policy, communication policy, gender and child development policy etc. Capacity building workshop was arranged for the entire project lead person.

In that period board of trustee and core team members were decided that next 5 to 10years organisation will be working on Climate change, water problem, organic firming. Right now organisations were working with 60,000 families in the field area.

Education:

Four experimental schools was established in 4 remote villages of Machkole, Domdih, Karanpura and jamtara block in Deoghar, Dumka, Godda and Jamtara district.

1200-1300 children of eligible age including drop outs enrolled for education.

The extended care and education support to 2880 at risk children who belonged to paharia, santhal tribes, Dalit communities and Muslim. Through this education 95% children from excluded communities were mainstreamed.

4 balwadi centres are running in 4 villages ensuring education and care support to 136 students of which 136 students from tribal community, economically poor families including Muslim, Santhal, Bauri & Das (Scheduled Caste).

Health:

Badlao has played lead role as Mother NGO in selection of field NGOs in RCH aspects. We supported the State Health and Family Welfare Departments in selecting 1784 sahiyyas from backward and excluded communities of Jamtara District.

Badlao imparted training to 1603 sahiyyas in 3 phases about their role and responsibilities. 30% women Sahiyyas belong to Dalit and 40% from Tribal groups and Muslims 10% and others 20%.

Badlao foundation facilitated formation of 1136 villages’ health committees and strengthened those through periodic training and orientation

Service delivery process strengthened in 900 AWC in 14 blocks of Dumka and Jamtara. Grassroots level field staffs were capacitated for ensure AWCs more functional.

With the support of CFI Badlao has ensured institutional delivery of 82 women, sensitization of 30 village Health Committees, and awareness on TB/HIV/AIDS/Malaria in 30 villages.

This improved 1180 women’s access to health service through grass roots service facilitation.

859 fresh Anganwadi Sevika and 599 Sahayika were trained by Badlao in its Badlao in its Kewarjali Ashram

Natural Resource Management & livelihood promotion:

In all its operational areas Badlao has involved 3500 HH of small and marginal farmers, landless workers including women farmers in Natural Resource Management to promote their livelihood and restore Natural set up of their localities with focus on regenation of existing natural resources by the excluded and resource poor families have been possible in different parts of operational areas.
