Regular health check ups for school going children are organised
in Badlao Foundation run schools and nearby government schools.
The health staff of Badlao Foundation conducts these checkups in
co-operation with the schoolteachers, local Mahila Sabha and at
times, with the government health staff. This has also helped in
identifying malnourished children for further intervention and in
arresting diseases at an early stage. Another aspect of the school
health programme is to increase the heath awareness amongst
children, especially in terms of personal hygiene and
In addition, trainings have been given to upgrade the skills of
traditional dais in Domdih area of Sundarpahari block of Godda
district so that they can conduct safe & hygienic deliveries.
Traditional medical practitioners were trained to develop their
skills further. Today not only has MMR/IMR reduced in the area,
but women are more aware in matters of personal hygiene and care
of pregnant women.
